Comfort Makers is unique to Scappoose and St. Helens!
We offer home care support for families in need of daily help, plus care management services for those who wish to have a nurse serve as an advocate to communicate with doctors and coordinate care between providers. Our care management service also assists legal and financial professionals in making sure that their clients receive the very best care and attention.
Here are a few examples of what we do everyday.
Every weekday, we provide two visits to a Veteran who is healthy with the exception of some short-term memory loss and being lonely while his children work. We take him to lunch, feed the ducks, go for a walk, take flowers to his wife's grave or whatever activity brightens his day. He loves pie so there are frequent trips for coffee, pie and good conversation.
Two times a day, we go into a home of an 103 year old. We help her with making a meal, remind her of her medications, clean up, do the laundry, bring in the paper so she can work on the crossword, go grocery shopping and take her to the hairdresser every week.
Three times a week we go into a home of a man who has suffered a stroke. We assist him with showering, dressing, provide fresh snacks and ensure meals are prepared for the day. We provide light house keeping and good conversation. He provides great stories of places that he has traveled while captain of a ship or on a mountain.
